I wonder if you have heard of that before. Probably - hopefully - not. However, you have probably heard of cases of young, active, seemingly perfectly healthy people - some of them pro athletes - suddenly collapsing and dying on the spot, often right in the middle of training, the case of Miklós Fehér Hungarian soccer player and György Kolonics olympic and world champion Hungarian canoeist being two tragic examples.
It is called sudden cardiac death (SCD). Its cause is usually some kind of previously unrecognized malformation or disease of the heart.
Such an underdiagnosed condition that may bring one's life to an abrupt end is arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy / dysplasia (ARVC/D). I came across this disease when a sibling of one of my friends died and my friend was diagnosed with this same condition.

Mind the sign!
Especially in the United States, people tend to mix up the sign of medicine (rod of Asclepius) with the sign of trade (caduceus), even in professional circles. (There is a certain amount of truth in this mistake, though. Sadly enough, modern-day privatized healthcare has turned doctors into tradesmen serving the interest of insurance companies rather than the interest of the sick.)
